Fish Finding is a drawing that integrates conscious and unconscious imaginative memory. This work depicts fishing as something monumental, larger than life and raw. Fragments of memory connect to my upbringing growing up on Lake Ontario, surrounded by its fishing culture introduced to me by my Dad. The artwork is playful yet, grungy; These two juxtaposing elements work with the real (conscious) and interpreted (unconscious). The texture and feel of the work have a homemade quality to them, insinuating family or familiarity. This work exhibits how one can piece together personal recollections using components of interpretation concerning rememberings grounded in reality.
